Day 1 of Adventure Weekend had been spectacular, filled with a menagerie of fascinating places, flora, and fauna.  Day 2 turned out to be sublime, and centered around one magnificent creatures: again, the Pacific Bottlenosed Dolphin.
We didn't have reservations for the 9 am Open Ocean Dolphin Swim (they were already booked solid when we called to save our spot) but come 8:30 am, Jason and I showed up anyway at UNEXSO in the hope that someone wouldn't make the early morning session.  This would be our one chance to swim together with the dolphins in their natural habitat, and somehow it would happen.  Nine o'clock found us on the ferry boat to the dolphin facility, and we were soon motoring out to sea with two dolphins, Caholo and Casique, in tow and froliking in the wake.  I don't know how time can both stand still and race by simulaneously, but our water dance with the dolphins was over far too soon.  There is no way to describe how you feel as you dive under the waves and you are joined by this graceful form, and the creature looks you directly in the eye as you slide through liquid space.  And then when the need to breath air returns and you regretfully rise to the surface, and Casique or Caholo rises with you and you two break into sunshine together...there is no way to describe that moment.  I am so glad that my love and I were able to experience it together, and share that peculiar magic!
